Welcome to Year 5 and 6

My name is Miss Clarke and I am the Phase Leader of Upper Key Stage 2. Myself and the Upper Key Stage 2 team love working at Malmesbury and are looking forward to supporting your children to reach their full potential during their last few years of Primary School.

At Malmesbury we have two Year 5 classes (Larch and Rowan) and two Year 6 classes (Juniper and Redwood). They are now the eldest in the school and with that comes the responsibility to be excellent role models to the rest of the school.  We will guide them to become increasingly independent so that they are ready for their transition into Year 6 and then on to secondary school.  I work closely with the Year 5 and 6 team to develop a broad and balanced curriculum and ensure consistency across the phase. More information about the school day, our curriculum and home learning is available by following the links below.

Year 6 have the opportunity to attend a 5-day residential trip to Fairthorne Manor near Southampton. Parents will receive information about this at the end of Year 5 and will be invited to attend a meeting at the start of Year 6 to find out more. It is an excellent opportunity for children to spend some quality time with their friends before they leave Malmesbury and to allow them to experience new adventures and challenges.

Year 6 also complete their end of Key Stage SATs (Standard Assessment Tests) in May. These assessments are delivered in every primary school at the same time. During this week, we provide the children with a healthy breakfast and try to make it as calm a week as possible, allowing the children to showcase their full potential.

If you need to speak urgently to any of our teachers, a brief message can be given in the morning, at the end of the day or written in their Home School Diary. If you need more time, please let the office know and they will be able to make an appointment for you at a suitable time.

Our team is very much looking forward to working with you and your child and sharing in their development and success.
