What are we learning at home?

The support and learning that takes place at home is key to your child’s success in Reception.  Each week your child will receive a weekly newsletter which will detail your child’s ‘home learning’ task as well as other ways to support the learning we have been doing in school. In addition, your child should read for 10 minutes every day which should be recorded in the home-school diary. Children in Reception will have a phonics book and a library book to share at home.

Your child’s learning will be recorded in their profile book. The class teacher will also consider the next steps to move your child’s learning along. The profile book and next steps will be shared with you during a short meeting which will take place once every half term. We ask that parents work on this next step at home and share any other learning with us through ‘wow’ slips.

Children in Reception, Years 1 and 2 have been shown how to use Busy Things and Bug Club, online cloud-based teaching resources, and the guides below will help you access these from home.
