What does Safeguarding and Child Protection look like?
Safeguarding is:
protecting children from maltreatment
preventing impairment of children's health or development
ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes
It is not just about protecting children from deliberate harm. It also relates to aspects of school life including pupil attendance; health and safety; school security; meeting the needs of children with medical conditions; and online safety.
Child Protection is part of safeguarding. It is the activity undertaken to protect specific children who are suffering, or are likely to suffer, significant harm.
