We are looking for two people to join our governing body as Co-opted Governors. A Co-opted Governor is an individual from the community who has the skills and experience which the governing board require. They will be appointed by the existing board, following an interview.

The governing board has a vital strategic role. The Government and Ofsted expect it to hold the head and the leadership team to account and drive improvement. The role of the governing board is a strategic one, its key functions are to:

  • set the aims and objectives for the school
  • set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives
  • set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives
  • monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives
  • be a source of challenge and support to the headteacher (a critical friend)

Governors need to attend full governing body meetings (4 per year) and serve on a Committee (no more than 6 meetings per year) as well as helping to monitor the work of the senior leadership team through visits in school time (at least 1 per term) and committing to some training. If you would like to support and be a part of the school’s journey then please contact the school to find out more, we would be happy to discuss the role in more detail.
