Brings out the best in everyone

Year 6 - School Closure Learning

We have prepared learning packs for all children during the school closure. Our primary aim with the learning pack is to provide a sufficient range of activities and learning opportunities to allow flexibility at home.  We understand that home schooling is challenging and we do not expect children to be working to a normal school timetable.  We want our families to return to school safe and happy; you know what is the best approach for you and your family during these difficult times.

The website will be updated with specific activities that will support your child’s learning. Some of the activities may require you to use the learning links here.  All the login details that you need will be included in your pack.

Revision of topics is key to remembering learning, so please do refer back to the previous home learning sheets we have sent out this year as well.  We will continue to update the pages so please do check back regularly. The home-school journals also have useful activities.  Regular reading will be of huge benefit at this time.

It will be important that your child’s day is balanced.  Depending on your child’s age, they will not be expected to concentrate on one task for more than half an hour.  We therefore recommend regular breaks from activities and a balance of screen-based and non-screen-based activities.  It is important to keep a sense of routine and we have outlined a possible timetable to support you with this.

Should you have any questions, please note that you can still phone the school office, or email at school@malmesbury.merton.sch.uk.  We look forward to seeing what the children have been learning when they return to school, particularly in their exercise book.

Maths Blog

Click here for our new maths blog which will have daily challenges for you to solve. All you need to do is leave a comment on the correct page for your year group. You must post your answer by midday (12pm) where everyone’s comment will be approved at the same time! Who will be the first to solve the problem? Remember to use your first name only and as much detail as you can in your answer. You can also become the teacher and comment on each other’s answers too!

Rhyme Challenge

Across the school, we are challenging the children to learn poems and rhymes by heart.

An idea a day for May!
